Protect the Public’s Trust Calls for the Immediate Resignation of Secretary of Energy Granholm

The nonprofit government ethics and integrity watchdog Protect the Public’s Trust has joined a coalition of other non-profit organizations to send a letter to President Joe Biden requesting the immediate resignation of Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
The letter states that Granholm needs to resign based on her actions, including her repeated apparent violations of federal ethics laws and regulations, along with the ethics failures and legal missteps of her subordinates, which are a result of her poor example.
Specific examples mentioned include failing to accurately report her financial holdings, participating personally and significantly in matters that directly benefitted a company in which she had a financial interest, inappropriately using her official position to promote products for multiple companies in which she had a financial interest or covered relationship, abusing her position of authority and misusing government resources to advance partisan activities in violation of the Hatch Act, and signaling to career civil servants and senior political leadership under her command that policy objectives take priority over basic compliance with ethics and legal obligations.
