President Biden’s special climate envoy, John Kerry, had his reps meet with left-wing environmental activist groups while staking out policy positions, documents show.
The papers, shared with Fox News by the government watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT), show Kerry’s underlings discussing climate agenda items with liberal organizations, including the Sierra Club and the United Nations Foundation.
One email, detailing the agenda for a virtual call ahead of last year’s G7 meetings in the UK, called for a discussion between Kerry’s office and environmental activists about whether the US would support a statement by world leaders calling for a ban on fossil fuel financing and “phasing out” gas-powered cars and coal power.
Notably absent from the documents are records of meetings with representatives of fossil fuel companies.
A separate email shows reps from left-wing groups Friends of the Earth, Oxfam, Oil Change International, the Climate Reality Project, World Resources Institute, the Bank Information Center, RMI and the Center for International Environmental Law were part of a meeting to discuss overseas fossil fuel finance.
